Wondering how much is too much, and how little is too little? Just use this guide to find out what and how much to feed your child at every stage of development from 6 to 12 months. If your child eats more or less than the amounts listed, don’t worry - they're only meant as rough guidelines.

Asian Weaning Recipes
During the early stage of your child’s development, breast milk or formula will still feature prominently in his diet. But once your child turns 6 months old, you may want to start adding weekly homemade specials into your menu.

Try these simple Asian recipes:

Unmilled Rice Gruel (For 6-month old onwards)

- Wash about 1/2 - 1 kg of unmilled rice and dry it thoroughly.
- Grind the rice into a powder and store it in an airtight container, preferably in the refrigerator.
- Before serving, mix the required amount with water until it forms a soupy paste.
- Cook this for a few minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add more water or expressed/formula milk to obtain the desired consistency.

Pureed Peas (For 6-month old onwards)

- Boil frozen peas until they are cooked, soft and tender.
- Puree, and serve.
- Add more water or expressed/formula milk to obtain the desired consistency. - Other vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes, and fruits like apples may also be pureed in the same way.

Pureed Tofu (For 6-month old onwards)

- Rinse and blanch tofu with hot water.
- Puree and serve with pureed vegetables or rice gruel.
- Add more water or expressed/formula milk to obtain the desired consistency.

Sweet Potato Puree (For 6-month old onwards)

- Clean and wash a sweet potato, without removing the skin.
- Steam the whole sweet potato for 15 minutes or until cooked.
- Then, peel it and mash the flesh before pushing it through a sieve to get a fine puree.
- Add more water or expressed/formula milk to obtain the desired consistency.

Rice Congee / Porridge (For 6 to 7-month old)

- Rinse 20g uncooked rice (about 1 tablespoon) briefly.
- Pour the rice along with the water into a 10px pot and bring to a boil.
- Then lower the heat and leave to simmer, covered, for 45 minutes or until the - rice grains have broken up completely.
- Turn off the heat, and leave the pot covered for 5 minutes.

Toasted Anchovies (For 8-month old onwards)

- Remove heads and entrails.
- Wash, dry and toast the fish.
- Finely grind the anchovies and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon to a serving of rice gruel.
