Remember… what you take in, is also what child takes to grow. So while eating a healthy diet is good, you should also consider what not to eat. Refrain from consuming alcohol, and check with your doctor before you take any vitamins or herbal products. Also, limit your intake of coffee, tea and soda. Or switch to de-caffeinated products as research has shown that high caffeine consumption may cause miscarriage. It’s also important to avoid food-borne bacteria that can harm your child so stay away from:
soft, unpasteurised cheeses ("fresh") such as feta, goat, Brie, Camembert, and blue cheese.
unpasteurised milk, juices, and apple cider.
raw eggs or foods containing raw eggs, including mousse and tiramisu.
raw or undercooked meats, fish, or shellfish.
processed meats such as hot dogs and deli meats.
fish that are high in mercury, including shark, swordfish, king mackerel, or tilefish.
